    Descriptive and Theoretical Approaches to African Linguistics contains a selection of revised and peer-reviewed papers from the 49th Annual Conference on African Linguistics, held at Michigan State University in 2018. The contributions from both students and more senior scholars, based in North America, Africa and other parts of the world, provide a glimpse of the breadth and quality of current research in African linguistics from both descriptive and theoretical perspectives. Fields of interest range from phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics to sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, discourse analysis, language documentation, computational linguistics and beyond. The articles reflect both the typological and genetic diversity of languages in Africa and the wide range of research areas covered by presenters at ACAL conferences.

    International audience; We’re living exciting but also challenging times at the worldwide level. From one side, there are environmental challenges that can compromise our future as humanity and the socio economic tensions generated in a context of mass consumption within a model of fossil and nuclear energy which endangers a sustainable development. From the other side, we have a growing number of citizen-based initiatives aiming to improve the society and the technological infrastructures making possible to cooperate at large scale and not only at a small-group level. Younger becomes empowered for their future. In their initiatives such #FridaysForFuture they are no longer (interactive) media consumers but move forward as creative activists to make older generations change the system in order to save the planet. At the same time, we have observed in the last years the emergence of a wide diversity of third places (makerspace, fablab, living lab…) aiming to empower communities to design and develop their own creative solutions. In this context, maker-based projects have the potential to integrate tinkering, programming and educational robotics to engage the learner in the development of creativity both in individual and collaborative contexts (Kamga, Romero, Komis, & Mirsili, 2016). In this context, the ANR #CreaMaker project aims to analyse the development of creativity in the context of team-based maker activities combining tinkering and digital fabrication (Barma, Romero, & Deslandes, 2017; Fleming, 2015). This first workshop of the ANR #CreaMaker project aims to raise the question on the concept, activities and assessment of creativity in the context of maker education and its different approaches : computational thinking (Class’Code, AIDE), collective innovation (Invent@UCA), game design (Creative Cultures), problem solving (CreaCube), child-robot interactions and sustainable development activities. Researchers from Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Italy and Spain will reunite with LINE researchers and the MSc SmartEdTech students in order to advance in how we can design, orchestrate and evaluate co-creativity in technology enhanced learning (TEL) contexts, and more specifically, in maker based education.

    International audience; Ce volume s'intéresse à la construction de l'identité par la transmission intergénérationnelle dans la littérature contemporaine, sous la forme des écritures de soi, que le scripteur ait ou non le statut d'écrivain. Celui qui produit un écrit à caractère autobiographique est mû par le désir de transmettre à ses descendants ou une génération postérieure une expérience et une pensée. Si ce savoir est d'ordre individuel, il devient parfois celui de tout un groupe, voire d'un peuple, lorsqu'il s'inscrit dans un contexte historique et politique tel que l'expérience des camps, de l'exil ou de l'émigration. Mais celui qui écrit peut se considérer lui-même comme héritier, héritier moral, psychique, intellectuel ou spirituel d'un proche généralement disparu. L'écriture de soi la plus répandue est une écriture quotidienne pragmatique, qui ne concerne pas seulement les écrivains. Il s'agit de fixer sa biographie pour transmettre une expérience particulière, avec une visée souvent didactique. Les ruptures existentielles, nombreuses au XX e siècle, favorisent cette production, comme en témoigne par exemple le fonds de manuscrits déposés à l'Association Pour l'Autobiographie.

    We simultaneously assess the contributions to productivity of three sources of research anddevelopment spillovers: geographic, technology and product - market proximity. To do this,we construct a new measure of geographic proximity that is based on the distribution of afirm's inventor locations rather than its headquarters, and we report both parametric and semiparametric estimates of our geographic-distance functions. We find that: i) Geographicspace matters even after conditioning on horizontal and technological spillovers; ii)Technological proximity matters; iii) Product-market proximity is less important; iv)Locations of researchers are more important than headquarters but both have explanatory power; and v) Geographic markets are very local.

    International audience; Ce volume s'intéresse à la construction de l'identité par la transmission intergénérationnelle dans la littérature contemporaine, sous la forme des écritures de soi, que le scripteur ait ou non le statut d'écrivain. Celui qui produit un écrit à caractère autobiographique est mû par le désir de transmettre à ses descendants ou une génération postérieure une expérience et une pensée. Si ce savoir est d'ordre individuel, il devient parfois celui de tout un groupe, voire d'un peuple, lorsqu'il s'inscrit dans un contexte historique et politique tel que l'expérience des camps, de l'exil ou de l'émigration. Mais celui qui écrit peut se considérer lui-même comme héritier, héritier moral, psychique, intellectuel ou spirituel d'un proche généralement disparu. L'écriture de soi la plus répandue est une écriture quotidienne pragmatique, qui ne concerne pas seulement les écrivains. Il s'agit de fixer sa biographie pour transmettre une expérience particulière, avec une visée souvent didactique. Les ruptures existentielles, nombreuses au XX e siècle, favorisent cette production, comme en témoigne par exemple le fonds de manuscrits déposés à l'Association Pour l'Autobiographie.

    We simultaneously assess the contributions to productivity of three sources of research anddevelopment spillovers: geographic, technology and product - market proximity. To do this,we construct a new measure of geographic proximity that is based on the distribution of afirm's inventor locations rather than its headquarters, and we report both parametric and semiparametric estimates of our geographic-distance functions. We find that: i) Geographicspace matters even after conditioning on horizontal and technological spillovers; ii)Technological proximity matters; iii) Product-market proximity is less important; iv)Locations of researchers are more important than headquarters but both have explanatory power; and v) Geographic markets are very local.
