For the first time, synthesis of bifunctional [2.2.2]-cryptands (CRYPT) and demonstration of radiolabeling with lead(II) (Pb2+) isotopes are disclosed herein. The synthesis is convenient and high-yielding and gives access to three distinct bifunctional handles (azide (-N3), isothiocyanate (-NCS), and tetrazine (-Tz)) that can enable the construction of radioimmunoconjugates for targeted and pretargeted therapy. Proof-of-principle CRYPT radiolabeling was successful with lead-203 ([203Pb]Pb2+) and demonstrated complexation efficiency superior to that of DOTA (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid) and efficiency comparable to that of the current industry standard TCMC (1,4,7,10-tetraaza-1,4,7,10-tetra-(2-carbamoylmethyl)-cyclododecane). In vitro human serum stability assays demonstrated excellent [203Pb]Pb-CRYPT stability over 72 h (91.7 ± 0.56%; n = 3). [203Pb]Pb-CRYPT-radioimmunoconjugates were synthesized from the corresponding CRYPT-immunoconjugate or by conjugating [203Pb]Pb-Tz-CRYPT to transcyclooctene modified trastuzumab (TCO-trastuzumab) via the inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder (IEEDA) reaction. This investigation reveals the potential for CRYPT ligands to become new industry standards for therapeutic and diagnostic radiometals in radiopharmaceutical elaboration.

Fydlyty includes a dialogue editor which has the ability to build a conversation, interpret responses, and respond to questions/answers from the game player. These responses are based on predefined cultural characteristics of the virtual character (avatar), and on different moods that the avatar may express depending on the situation (i.e., normal, upset, or angry). In addition to its educational purposes, Fydlyty has been developed as a research tool to examine the role of graphical-based fidelity in the learning process.

In this paper, we consider a multi-period relief distribution network with time window and split delivery. We compare equity measures regarding delivery quantities, arrival times and deprivation times in different locations. We find that arrival time equity and deprivation time equity are equivalent under a certain condition. Moreover, we show that the equity measures behave differently depending on the ratios of supply, vehicle capacity and demand. Importantly, the deprivation time equity can better address the concept of “equity” in humanitarian emergency distribution. We conduct a case study on the Haiti earthquake to illustrate the impact of the proposed equity measures.

This technique makes use of a small hadron tumour marker, $^{92}$Mo, implanted at a short known distance from the clinical treatment volume. Signals emitted from the marker during treatment can provide a direct measurement of the proton beam energy at the marker's position. Fusion-evaporation reactions between the proton beam and marker nucleus result in the emission of delayed characteristic $\gamma$ rays, which are detected off-beam for an improved signal-to-noise ratio. In order to determine the viability of this technique and to establish an experimental setup for future work, the Monte Carlo package GEANT4 was used in combination with ROOT to simulate a treatment scenario with the new method outlined in this work. These simulations show that analyzing the intensity of delayed $\gamma$ rays produced from competing reactions yields a precise measurement of the range of the proton beam relative to the marker, with sub-millimeter uncertainty.

On the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland, fairies are no longer feared and avoided (Reiti, 1991; Narvaez, 1991), but are something people have commodified and are marketing and selling. This thesis includes some of these examples: Tina White’s guided tours the Fairy Door Tours and Fairy Lore Walkabout, the Faerie Garden and Fairy Nights at the Cupids Legacy Centre, described by Claudine Garland and Peter Laracy, and the written representation by local writers Dennis Flynn and Dale Jarvis, and local publisher Marnie Parsons who owns and operates the Running the Goat: Books and Broadsides publishing company in Tors Cove. Applying the theoretical concepts of play (Masters, 2008; Eicher-Catt, 2016; Lambrow, 2020), assemblage (Santino, 1986), enchantment/re-enchantment (Magliocco, 2018; Saler, 2003, 2004), and escapism (Heilman, 1975; Young, 1976; Usherwood and Toyne, 2002), to the theoretical framework of commodification, I show how locals are adapting “our” fairy traditions and using the interest sparked by the popular culture representation of fairies to teach audiences about different aspects of Newfoundland culture, such as storytelling traditions, as well as Newfoundland values, like respect for nature and for other people. I also show how the visual representation of fairies has been more sanitized than the written form. Finally, I show how locals, both proprietors and consumers, are using these examples to create and foster a sense of local identity.

AbstractFreshwater habitats are experiencing two to three times the rate of biodiversity loss of terrestrial and marine habitats. Asstatus quoactions within the conservation community are not reversing the downward trajectory for freshwater biodiversity, we propose four actions to shift the narrative such that freshwater biodiversity is no longer invisible and overlooked, but rather explicitly recognized, valued, and protected: (1)Reshapeour relationship with freshwater habitats and biodiversity, (2)Appreciateindigenous knowledge systems relating to freshwater habitats, (3)Connectscience more directly to action, and (4)Elevatefreshwater habitats as a unique “domain” that requires explicit recognition in conservation planning (RACE). We highlight roles that both freshwater scientists and the wider conservation community can play in implementing the four actions such that the “RACE” can be won.

Tondello; Alberto Mora; Lennart E. Nacke;Gustavo F. Tondello; Alberto Mora; Lennart E. Nacke;Several studies have developed models to explain player preferences. These models have been developed for digital games; however, they have been frequently applied in gameful design (i.e., designing non-game applications with game elements) without empirical validation of their fit to this different context. It is not clear if users experience game elements embedded in applications similarly to how players experience them in games. Consequently, we still lack a conceptual framework of design elements built specifically for a gamification context. To fill this gap, we propose a classification of eight groups of gameful design elements produced from an exploratory factor analysis based on participants' self-reported preferences. We describe the characteristics of the users who are more likely to enjoy each group of design elements in terms of their gender, age, gamification user type, and personality traits. Our main contribution is providing an overview of which design elements work best for what demographic clusters and how we can apply this knowledge to design effective gameful systems.

The corresponding catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, TPR, CO chemisorption techniques to further study the impact of acid functionalization on textual properties, metal dispersion, crystallite size, defect generation, and reducibility of 15Co/CNT catalysts. The performance of prepared catalysts was tested for 30% CO and 60% H2 with balanced Ar in a fixed bed microreactor for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis at 220 °C, 2 MPa, and GHSV of 3000 cm3·g–1·h–1. Pretreatment of CNTs with 70 wt % nitric acid exhibited improved physicochemical properties of 15Co/CNT catalyst and hydrocarbon yield by 35% as compared to untreated CNT supported catalyst.
