The subsequent cyclisation by thionyl chloride produced the desired bridged azatricyclic anhydrides which are versatile substrates for the synthesis of dipeptides; they are also converted into oxathymine and oxauracil by a thermal [4+2] cycloreversion.

Major contributors of comp Measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy in lead–lead collisions at sNN−−−√ = 5.02 TeV are presented using a data sample corresponding to 0.49 nb−1 integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015. The recorded minimum-bias sample is enhanced by triggers for “ultra-central” collisions, providing an opportunity to perform detailed study of flow harmonics in the regime where the initial state is dominated by fluctuations. The anisotropy of the charged-particle azimuthal angle distributions is characterized by the Fourier coefficients, v2–v7, which are measured using the two-particle correlation, scalar-product and event-plane methods. A search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the two photon decay channel is reported, using 1.08 fb−11.08 fb[superscript −1] of proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector. No significant excess is observed in the investigated mass range of 110–150 GeV. Upper limits on the cross-section times branching ratio of between 2.0 and 5.8 times the Standard Model prediction are derived for this mass range. National Science Foundation (U.S.) United States. Four instrumented experimental cells were constructed with different SR layer configurations (two thicknesses and three materials) placed over a capillary break layer. To assess the hydrogeological behaviour of these cover systems, volumetric water content, matric suction, and meteorological monitoring time trends were studied for a period of 1.5 years under actual and extreme conditions typical of an arid climate. Under natural climatic conditions, all net infiltration was released to the atmosphere by the physical process of evaporation (regardless of SR layer thickness and type). Although high surface matric suction (>3000 kPa) decreased the evaporation rate (or release capacity) during the drying period, field tests showed that the studied scenarios limited deep water infiltration even under extreme rainfall events. The release capacity of the SR layer was slightly lower for cover systems made with the finer-grained mine waste (phosphate limestone tailings). This study showed that, for a one-dimensional (1D) condition, the tested phosphate mine wastes have the appropriate hydrogeological properties to be used as components of SR covers under conditions at the Kettara mine site, located near Marrakech, Morocco.

BACKGROUND: Servant leadership can be viewed as a leadership theory that stresses personal integrity and focuses on protecting and promoting the interests of others. OBJECTIVE: This article investigates whether the relationship between servant leadership and nurses’ upward voice behavior in an Egyptian hospital is contingent on prosocial motivation. Invoking substitutes for leadership theory, we propose that the relationship between servant leadership and nurses’ upward voice will be attenuated when nurses have a strong desire to protect and promote the well-being of others. METHODS: Using a sample of 341 nurses working in a large governmental hospital in Egypt, this proposition was tested using PROCESS Macro for SPSS. RESULTS: The results revealed that the relationship between servant leadership and nurses’ upward voice was stronger for those lower in prosocial motivation than for those higher in prosocial motivation. CONCLUSION: These results were explained through communal impulsion which adds a new insight into Greenleaf’s theory of servant leadership. Overall, the results of the study shed new light on the conditions through which servant leadership enhances upward voice behavior in an Egyptian hospital.

Elafin, a natural protease inhibitor expressed in healthy intestinal mucosa, has pleiotropic anti-inflammatory properties in vitro and in animal models. We found that mucosal expression of Elafin is diminished in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This defect is associated with increased elastolytic activity (elastase-like proteolysis) in colon tissue. We engineered two food-grade strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) to express and deliver Elafin to the site of inflammation in the colon to assess the potential therapeutic benefits of the Elafin-expressing LAB. In mouse models of acute and chronic colitis, oral administration of Elafin-expressing LAB decreased elastolytic activity and inflammation and restored intestinal homeostasis. Furthermore, when cultures of human intestinal epithelial cells were treated with LAB secreting Elafin, the inflamed epithelium was protected from increased intestinal permeability and from the release of cytokines and chemokines, both of which are characteristic of intestinal dysfunction associated with IBD. Together, these results suggest that oral delivery of LAB secreting Elafin may be useful for treating IBD in humans.

The performance of the jet trigger for the ATLAS detector at the LHC during the 2011 data taking period is described. During 2011 the LHC provided proton-proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and heavy ion collisions with a 2.76 TeV per nucleon-nucleon collision energy. The ATLAS trigger is a three level system designed to reduce the rate of events from the 40 MHz nominal maximum bunch crossing rate to the approximate 400 Hz which can be written to offline storage. The ATLAS jet trigger is the primary means for the online selection of events containing jets. Events are accepted by the trigger if they contain one or more jets above some transverse energy threshold. During 2011 data taking the jet trigger was fully efficient for jets with transverse energy above 25 GeV for triggers seeded randomly at Level 1. For triggers which require a jet to be identified at each of the three trigger levels, full efficiency is reached for offline jets with transverse energy above 60 GeV. Jets reconstructed in the Event Filter and corresponding to offline jets with transverse energy greater than 60 GeV, are reconstructed with a resolution in transverse energy of better than 4% in the central region and better than 2.5% in the forward direction. In this paper, we propose a multicommodity network flow-based model for assigning locomotives and cars to trains in the context of passenger transportation. The model has a convenient structure that facilitates the introduction of maintenance constraints, car switching penalties, and substitution possibilities. The large integer programming formulation is solved by a branch-and-bound method that relaxes some of the integrality constraints. At each node of the tree, a mixed-integer problem is solved by a Benders decomposition approach in which the LP relaxations of multicommodity network flow problems are optimized either by the simplex algorithm or by Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition. Some computational refinements, such as the generation of Pareto-optimal cuts, are proposed to improve the performance of the algorithm. Computational experiments performed on two sets of data from a railroad show that the approach can be used to produce optimal solutions to complex problems.
