    Miami-Illinois is an Algonquian language spoken by the Miami and Peoria, whose traditional homelands are situated to the south of the Great Lakes. This area was part of what the French called the Pays d’en Haut. In the 19th century, forced removals and the reservation system led to cultural fragmentation. Language revitalization efforts began in the mid–1990’s and, due to this, a wealth of documentation is now available through the Miami-Illinois Digital Archive. This article shows how this resource can help historians better understand these Indigenous societies. La langue algonquienne Miami-Illinois est parlée par les Miami et les Peoria, dont les terres ancestrales sont situées au sud des Grands Lacs. Cette région a fait partie de ce que les Français ont appelé le Pays d’en Haut. Au XIXe siècle, les déplacements forcés et le système de réserves ont causé une fracture culturelle. Les efforts à faire revivre la langue ont mené à la création du Miami-Illinois Digital Archive. Cet article illustre comment cette ressource riche peut aider les historiens à mieux comprendre ces sociétés autochtones.

    Existen en Quebec numerosas iniciativas de educación popular o comunitaria que se interesan por los vínculos entre la alimentación, la salud y el medio ambiente. Estas prácticas diversas y creativas merecen ser mencionadas, caracterizadas, y mejor reconocidas. Al respecto hemos desarrollado un programa de investigación titulado "Educación en Salud Ambiental: fundamentos y prácticas relacionadas a la problemática de la alimentación en el contexto de la educación popular y comunitaria". La educación sobre la eco-alimentación es definida en este marco como un proceso que favorece una orientación individual y colectiva hacia una alimentación saludable -producida, distribuida y consumida respetando los procesos ecológicos y de equidad en las relaciones sociales-. En este texto se presenta el programa de investigación y algunos resultados principales, incluida la contribución de las prácticas eco-alimentarias a la innovación social, junto con pistas que permiten una asociación más adecuada de la dimensión de educación eco-social. Au Québec, il existe de nombreuses initiatives d’éducation populaire ou communautaire qui s’intéressent aux liens entre l’alimentation, la santé et l’environnement. Ces pratiques diverses et créatives méritent d’être répertoriées, caractérisées et mieux reconnues. Nous avons élaboré à cet effet un programme de recherche intitulé « Éducation relative à la santé environnementale : fondements et pratiques liés à la problématique de l’alimentation en contexte d’éducation populaire et communautaire ». L’éducation relative à l’éco-alimentation y est définie comme un processus favorisant un cheminement individuel et collectif vers une alimentation saine, produite, distribuée et consommée dans le respect des processus écologiques et de l’équité des rapports sociaux. Cet article présente le programme de recherche ainsi que certains des principaux résultats, dont la contribution des pratiques éco-alimentaires à l’innovation sociale et des pistes pour mieux y associer une dimension d’éducation écosociale. In Québec, there are numerous community or popular education initiatives interested in the links between food, health and environment. These diverse and creative practices need to be identified, characterized and recognized. Consequently, we have developed a research program entitled “Environmental health education: Theories and practices linked to the issue of food in a context of popular education and community education”. We define eco-food education as a process promoting individual and collective adoption of a healthy diet, based on food produced, distributed and consumed while respecting ecological processes and equity within social relations. This article presents the research programme and some of the major results, among others including the contribution of eco-food practices to social innovation and some development pathways of eco-food education, an important dimension of social education.
