The purpose of this study is to identify, find institutional forms, the institutional structure, mechanism and output from other forms of institutional and public perceptions in the management of mangrove ecosystems in the Great Wood Village, Kecamatan Bandar Khalipah, Serdang Bedagai. The research was conducted by collecting data such primary characteristics of respondents, institutional structure and management of mangrove ecosystems. Secondary data is data which exist at the village government, districts and counties. The data is then combined with literature to enrich the contents of the study. The research concludes that the local institutions involved in the management of mangrove ecosystems in the form of formal institutions namely the Village Government, Village Consultative Body, and non formal education is a mangrove farmer groups. Institutional structure consisting of Government, District Government, Village Tool, community and farmer group consisting of a chairman, secretary, treasurer and members. The model of mangrove ecosystem management by farmer groups better than the Forest Service.. Public perception of forest damage caused by the employers and the conversion of land into farms, forests benefit from the economic, social, technology is very useful, and ecologically beneficial.. Frequency of counseling development and conservation potential of mangrove forests have never, mangrove forest conditions and management systems were poor and see the destruction of silent actions. 041201009
