Description
Physical mechanisms at the origin of the transport of solid particles by a fluid flow are still a matter of debate in the physics community. Yet, it is well known that these processes play a fundamental role in many natural configurations, such as silting-up, landslides, avalanches and sand dunes motion, which may have a significant environmental and economic impact. Such processes are also encountered in the food, chemical and petroleum industry. The objective of this proposal is to provide a better understanding of the physical processes involved in the transport of sediments at the scale of the grains, via the development and use of original numerical approac...
